#1: You’re not beginning the rest of your life.
You’re just taking a next step. Don’t make it some giant deal and pressure yourself. Feel awesome about what you’ve accomplished and focus on making the most out of what’s next.
#2: Stop looking for the right path.
There is no one right path. There are many possible ways to live a wonderful, meaningful life. You will create your paths by taking steps.
#3: If you want to live a great life you will have to do hard things.
That’s it. That’s the whole point.
#4: Prioritize taking care of yourself.
In order to do hard things and live a great life, you need to take care of yourself: your mind, body, and soul. This is non-negotiable. Learn what this means for you and do it.
#5: Don’t follow your passion. instead, discover your Zone of Greatness
This is your biggest task: to discover the intersection between what you love, what you’re great at, and where you can have the deepest impact. And the only way to discover it is by doing things, having experiences, and being honest with yourself.
#6: Forget the “should”. Get honest about what’s important to you.
Everyone will have thoughts about what you should do. It’s up to you to tell yourself the truth about what’s important to you — and recognize that it might change over time.
#7: Disconnect your self-worth from your achievements.
Do things, achieve things, create things! It’s important and invigorating. But recognize that you’re a being, not a doing. Your worth is independent of what you achieve.
#8: Always ask: How is this happening for me?
A lot of stuff won’t go your way. You will fail, not get what you want. Choose to look at everything through the lens of possibility and opportunity. This perspective will change your life.
#9: Whatever you believe, will be. So choose your beliefs carefully.
The story we tell about ourselves and our life determines our choices, behaviors, and outcomes. You craft your story through your beliefs. You are the author of your life.
#10: Cultivate self-love.
Self-love means you value yourself, take care of yourself, and do what makes you feel deeply good. Loving yourself is not selfish. Loving yourself is your responsibility because when you love yourself you’re the best version of yourself.
