The upside of being honest about your feelings

Tags Living Happier

Do you feel you can be honest with people in your life about how you feel, especially when you're experiencing difficult emotions like fear, uncertainty, or self-doubt?

For most of my life my answer would have been "Absolutely not." As a leader at work, entrepreneur and even as a mom, I felt that I was expected to always be positive, strong, and certain. "A-OK" Nataly was the face I tried to present to the world, even when I felt overwhelmed with self-doubt.

I know that I'm not alone in this. So many of us feel that we're expected to always be on, strong, and positive and we fear that it's a sign of weakness to admit we feel otherwise. And in doing that we not only increase our suffering but waste enormous amounts of emotional energy -- a precious and limited resource.

In this Happier Boost video, I'm sharing a few tips to help you find a more gentle approach when it comes to dealing with difficult feelings. I hope these ideas will help you release some of the stress that comes from feeling like you have to pretend to be a certain way.
