deadlift, Kristin McGee

According to Happier health and fitness expert Kristin McGee:

"The deadlift is one of the most primal, basic, muscle building exercises out there, and a move we do often throughout the day without even realizing it -- from picking up something off the floor, to reaching down to tie our shoes. It works your legs, butt, back, arms and abs, and can even release extra testosterone -- which actually helps boost our metabolism and sex drive! If you learn to perform a deadlift correctly, you’ll strengthen and tone your midsection, stretch and tone your hamstrings, buttocks and hips, and learn to hinge properly from your seat. You’ll also protect your back and improve your posture. When you move organically and from your body’s natural origami folds, you feel more organized and connected. The more connected you are to your body and the more efficiently you use it, the happier you feel! Our bodies are truly miraculous and learning how they function properly gives us strength and joy."

Kristin McGee's challenge:

"Today’s challenge is to do 20 reps of a deadlift, whether first thing in the morning, on your lunch break near your desk, at the gym, or during a commercial break while watching TV at night. Throughout the day, notice the moves you do that are similar to the deadlift."
