When you're short on cash or can’t get to the store but you still want that fresh-faced-just-spent-the-day-at-the-spa feel, look no further than your own fridge. Not only is using what you already have cheaper and easier, it's also a way to use the most natural substances around to get the happiest face possible:
Olive oil: It doesn’t get much better than this for moisturizing your skin. A light coating at night before bed will leave your skin bright and fab in the morning. Chapped lips? You know the drill. You can even incorporate it in your hair routine (yes, oil + hair can mix). Try mixing some with warm water and applying to wet locks for 5-10 minutes before shampooing. Think hot oil treatment for a fraction of the cost.
Mayonnaise: Sounds strange, but trust us: mayo is a fantastic moisturizer thanks to its lipid-rich content. It can be used as a cooling face mask or even applied to soften dry nails and cuticles.
Avocado: Similar to olive oil and mayonnaise in it’s ability to moisturize, these can also eliminate redness. A mashed up avocado (add some yogurt and honey to make it more spreadable) is just what you need to remedy a case of seriously blotchy skin.
Oatmeal: Sacrifice a bowl of your favorite whole oats and your skin will thank you. Mix with coconut oil and brown sugar for a 100% natural exfoliating scrub or add some warm water and honey for a soothing and wholesome face mask. The natural antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties will freshen your look without clobbering your wallet.
