Rituals are different from routines. Routines are functional: they’re the stuff that we need to get done in our daily lives. We have a morning routine in our family that involves eating breakfast, making lunch, and getting everyone to school and work on time.
But rituals are intentional. They’re rooted in feeling or emotion and have a purpose that transcends pure necessity. Rituals are things you choose to do regularly not because you have to but because you want to, and they help you create and savor more amazing daily moments.
