5 questions for your soul

I love little rituals and traditions.

My birthday is next week and the year is drawing to a close, so it's the perfect time to create a new one. As I was thinking about what would feed my soul and my mind after this amazing and challenging year, it came to me.

So here it is, my new little ritual for end of year. I'm calling it Questions For Your Soul.

Instead of making resolutions and adding to what I'm sure is an already long list of expectations you have for yourself, take some time to reflect on this past year using these questions.

  • What am I grateful for?

  • What can I accept even if it's imperfect?
(What woulda/coulda/shoulda can I let go of?)

  • How was I kind this year and what acts of kindness from others touched my heart?

  • What did I do that made me feel alive? That gave me meaning?

  • How was I compassionate towards myself and how did that feel?

These 5 questions are based on the Five Core Happier Skills. When we practice them regularly, they truly allow us to thrive, to feel more joy in everyday moments and get through difficult ones with resilience and compassion.

I know the holiday season can get so hectic. But I hope you will give yourself the gift of a few quiet minutes to reflect on these questions and bring these magical practices into the new year with you. It isn't just a gift for you but for all the people you love and care about. Because the best way we can help them to live their fullest, most amazing lives is to invest in our own happier practice. Joy, resilience, compassion -- they spread in the most beautiful way.
